As my website has become an important place to share information about my painting adventures, projects I’m involved in, my work in schools and community groups I have decided to create this archives page. I intend to put some of my work pre Internet on this page.
Maui Dolphin Mural Warrington, Otago, New Zealand
This mural was painted and made in 2000. I worked with community consultation on the design and then painted the mural and the tiles were made in the local hall by the community.
This mural is still in good nick which I attribute to the careful preparation of the wall and the layers of paint applied as it is exposed to fierce coastal conditions.
Waiau Potters’ Group Mural Tuatapere, Southland, NZ
This community mural with the Waiau Potters’ Group was done in 1999. It was one of the first community murals I did on returning to New Zealand. In the centre is Amy McKay who was a stalwart of the group and an amazing potter whose work can still be found in people’s houses and gardens – a mark of how highly prized her work was by the community.
This mural was the beginning of my involvement in arts work in the Southland area. It was a huge change from big city living in Leeds to driving around in my zephyr in the wop wops of Southland not really knowing often where I was going!
